Pregnancy brain is real. So, I have a bunch of progress updates on Dax’s big boy room- starting with his floors being completed, but I forgot to take pictures of the floors. David has moved on to painting, so the floors are completely covered with paper which means I can’t take pictures. You’re just going to have to wait a little while longer. David does have until July 1 to complete the room, so hopefully that means I can take the pictures this weekend!
Moving onto another topic…we had some rain drainage issues with our last patio, and David has talked about getting a french drain put in for months. I was a little surprised that he didn’t mention it to our contractor when we put in the new patio.
Of course, once the patio was completed, we had some major rain over here and we started to notice how much water was building up next to the patio. David said “Well, we need a french drain put in”. No sh*t!! I reminded him that he mentioned that before, multiple times and was confused why he didn’t have one put in while we were building the patio. His reasoning was that he wanted to see where they put the patio, the elevation of it, and if it made a difference with the water problem. So, now that the patio is done, it apparently is time to get this french drain in, or else we will get this mini pond every time it rains. No thanks!
We decided to take a trip to the Cayman Islands to kick off summer, celebrate Dax turning two, and to have one last hurrah before the baby arrives. We did a “babymoon” in Maui while I was pregnant with Eli, and Kauai while I was pregnant with Dax. Hawaii is just a bit too far from Chicago, and flying with a 4 and 2 year old for that long sounded miserable. Everyone we talk to seem to love Grand Cayman, so we thought it would be fun and different to try it. We absolutely loved it, and are already counting down until when we can go back! We stayed at the new(er) Kimpton Seafire Resort and Spa and it was not only clean, gorgeous, in a great location, and have unbelievable service, but it was so beyond kid friendly that we were actually feeling like we were on vacation and not just a trip. I highly highly recommend this property!
Now that we are back, reality is setting in and this baby is coming a lot sooner than we are prepared for. It’s time to buckle down and get sh*t done! hopefully there will be plenty of updates coming soon. Until then, enjoy these pictures of paradise
Happy second birthday to our Daxy boy!!!! You are wild, strong, stubborn, persistent, brave, hilarious, and smart, yet you still happen to be the most sensitive and sweet boy. We love you more than words and can’t wait to celebrate with you all week…island style!
